Tarian Kuda Kepang

Hemmm....dah lama juga aku tak pernah menyaksikan persembahan tarian kuda kepang ni.  Dulu waktu kecik-kecik ada la kot, itupun aku ingat-ingat lupa dah. Ye lah, peristiwa dah lama sangat.

Recently during my nephew's wedding party at Kota Tinggi, Johor, horse dance has been present to all guests.  I'm glad to be able to watched this cultural show.Horse dance or called the “Kuda Kepang”, is a Malay traditional dance which is unique to the state of Johor in South of Malaysia. The “Kuda Kepang” is a hobby horse made of bamboo and cane. The dance is comprised of nine to fifteen male dancers dancing to the beat of traditional Malay music.  It's claimed that this dance have a mysticism behind it. During my childhood time, I used to watch this traditional dance.  I'm so scared if the dancer getting uncontrolled or become like a crazy horse.  They can be very strong and can eat pieces of glass or even can step on a sharp of broken glasses.  Nowadays, I think this dance is more just like a cultural show dance only, without any mysticism or mantra behind it.
